A Regional Step Forward for Road Safety
To ensure that life-saving initiatives, traffic safety education, and community support reach every corner of the country, the National Road Safety Council of Guyana is officially launching dedicated Regional Road Safety Desks across all administrative regions.
This regional expansion marks a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to reduce road accidents and foster a culture of responsible driving. By establishing localized operations, the Council aims to address the unique traffic challenges, infrastructure needs, and road user concerns specific to each geographic area.
What the Regional Road Safety Desks Provide
The new regional desks will serve as primary access hubs for local communities, offering a direct link between citizens and national safety coordinators.
Key functions of each desk include:
Direct Community Engagement: Citizens can approach their regional desk to report localized road safety concerns, request safety interventions, or submit suggestions for hazardous stretches of road.
Localized Safety Campaigns: Coordinating targeted public awareness drives, school outreach programs, and driver education workshops tailored to regional traffic patterns.
Resource & Information Distribution: Providing public access to official traffic guidelines, educational materials, and statistical updates on road safety initiatives.
Regional Collaboration: Working hand-in-hand with local law enforcement, regional democratic councils (RDCs), and community groups to implement immediate safety measures.
Strengthening Local Infrastructure and Public Service
Road safety is not a one-size-fits-all effort. A busy arterial highway in Region 4 requires different strategies than rural transport corridors or coastal transit routes. By decentralizing our operations and embedding dedicated officers within each region, we are equipping local authorities and residents with the tools needed to act swiftly and effectively.
Our doors are open, and our regional team members are ready to collaborate with driver associations, schools, pedestrians, and local leaders.
